Forest authorities are battling a wildfire two miles west of the Tonto Fish Hatchery in northern Arizona. As of Sunday night, it had grown to about 100 acres.
The Big Canyon fire was reported Sunday at about 10:30 am. It is burning in the Big Canyon area near the Highline Trail, about 14 miles east of Payson, Arizona, "in a rough and remote section of the Tonto National Forest," according to a press release.
Fire personnel have been on scene since Sunday. Additional resources were ordered for Monday.
